Spring and Mary Update,,,,,,,,,,

If you are a gardener, you know. Life can be long or short. Life can be unpredictable. In the Garden. But for the rest of us as well. We don't know WHEN we're going to "Bloom." We don't know when we're going to "multiply", flourish, grow, die back or dry up.

We don't get to Choose the garden we will occupy. It's determined prior to our growth. We don't KNOW how we will be fed/nourished. We don't know WHAT weather will be influential in our lives, we don't know what is ahead of us. But we grow, we thrive, we struggle to resist adversities and disease.

And we grow Stronger. We cast off weeds, disease, and the richness of the soil, the light, the water Make us GROW.

This of course is an analogy. But one that I hope holds TRUE for many of us. You tend "Your garden." You live well, eat well, Do well.

And yet, you Still end up with Cancer. In this case, Cancer on your spine. They remove the Tumor, the disc's affected by the Cancer. Because,,,,THIS is priority ONE....No Paralysis. No Paralysis.
.
This week? Body scans. Results. Treatment scheduled. Radiation on the Spine where the tumor was removed. And Body scan reveals Primary tumor: On a Kidney.

So. This is where I step off.

Any insight appreciated.

Hugs, Love and a worried "Bus" on the Cheek!

  1. Shell, I wish I had insights for this stuff. It seems to be in our lives all the time and it stinks. Going through it with a colleague here and I embrace the tiniest sliver of good news when it comes, pray a lot and keep a big box of kleenex on my desk. Sending you and Mary lots of hugs!

  2. Oh Shell...such hard news. I am so thankful you have each other, it's going to be a journey for you together. Moment by moment. I love your garden analogy. I had this saying painted on the wall of my last store. "Sometimes when the world is too much with me,I go to my garden for peace. There I find that God is in His heaven and all is right in the world."
    love to you and mary.
    hugs friend,

  3. Shell,
I send my love. Been there. Done that. No insights. Cancer is hard because you never know. My brother had Stage 4 esophageal cancer and is alive five years later. Responded completely to the chemo/radiation. I will keep you both in my prayers. I know how much Mary means to you.
I think you are a wonderful person full or heart and sass and send you a big hug and a hopeful bus on the cheek!!!

  5. We never know the whys! God has his plan and we must have faith. I have been thru cancer with my best friend...treatment everyday, etc. but somehow we made it with prayers and faith, wishing the same for you and Mary. Hold tight to her and be strong for her.

  6. Shell - Is it possible to say a prayer with every breath one takes? I am doing my very best! Miracles happen every day. Our best friend was given 3 years - that was 7 years ago. Since then we have all traveled around the world, hiked the Grand Canyon, sailed around Cape Horn -- and it goes on and on. God is in charge - we must trust him to take care of this. And pray~~
