Playing around making Crepe Paper Garland

Since I often use Crepe Paper Garland, or festooning in my crafts, I played around a bit and made some of my own....Kind of fun to make and to mix/match colors! I'm going to try it with some other types of paper next.

Martha Stewart's multi-bladed scissors made it a LOT easier and consistent widths.  Of course, I'll have to make a LOT of it to pay for the fancy scissors!

One World One Heart

My Giveaway for the One World One Heart Giveaway

This is my first year participating in the One World One Heart Blog Giveaway, sponsored by Lisa from
A Whimsical Bohemian. This is a Worldwide event primarily for bloggers, although anyone can enter! Link onto Lisa's site (above) to see who is participating in the event! Last year she had close to 100 participants so make sure you check those other blogs out and enter to win there as well!

If you have never stopped by my blog before, my name is Shelly, but most people call me Shell and I prefer that actually. I LOVE to work with lovely papers old and new, crepe and crinkled. Ribbons of all sorts and wires and tinsels, vintage flowers and German Dresden, and I create little that doesn't involve a bit of glitter, crystals-also known as "Bling."

The name of this blog came from living in a little Craftsman Bungalow which always seems to have some "Sparkle" in it's midst. Hence the name "Bungalow Bling." This blog is primarily geared toward my crafting. I have another blog however, ShellinSnohomish, http://shellinsnohomish.blogspot.com/ which is my general blog about various aspects of my life and living in Snohomish, WA. Sometimes I think I should change the name of that blog however, to "SparklingShell" or "ShellinBlingland" because between my crafting AND my part time job I always seem to have GLITTER on me!!!

INFO about the Giveaway:

I will be giving away the little mixed media box shown above. This little box is made up of things that truly make me happy- German Dresen (The Gold hearts, little Cherub and wings on the back), Ribbons-new, stamped and crinkled and vintage (the gold). I also used Vintage lillies and pearls as well as Mica and gold glitter. Vintage sheet music and crepe paper fringe I made add the finishing layers.

I also always include a special "surprise" inside my boxes, so look forward to something tucked in!

And, please, please Please, leave me a note about WHERE you are from,,,,,,I think it is wonderful to see where all the bloggers come from,,,,for this event and otherwise! Take a moment to add you whereabouts to your comment!!!

Leave a comment on my website to be entered in the giveaway drawing that witll be held  on February 15th.  Please be sure to leave a link (preferably your blog) or and email to be contacted if you are the winner.

I'd love for you to follow this blog in the future, but that is entirely optional! I'll will be having an event on this site in February and a giveaway for that as well. (Click on "followers" in the sidebar if interested.)

Have fun exploring all the new blogs and good luck in the giveaways!!! Thanks for stopping in!

Valentine Crown

Marla, my Mannequin muse is sporting a new crown fitting of her romantic nature..  Now she's off to help me embellish some Vintage Valentines!

Monday, January 11, 2010

Back in the Craft room! Here are a few images of some little Heart Boxes I worked on today. Paper Mache' Heart Shaped boxes using various embellishments. This first one features scrunched acetate ribbon.

Bottom Looks Green, but is actually creme. I think the reflection from the paper I put underneath affected the photo......These are all about 3 across at their widest point and about 2 1/2" inches deep.

This little box feature Music paper/scrunched ribbon and other embelishments.
Little red box featuring musical birds, German dresden and a romantic message!

More scrunched ribbon, glitter and vintage music heart punch! Too fun to make!!

Monocromatic Heart "Happy Valentines Day"
More to follow in the next couple of days! Including a new cake topper and a new Valentine Crown!
Fun to be back creating things again!!!
